Are you Late?

If so, I probably don't like you very much!

Think about it!

If you make an appointment to be someplace at a certain time to meet someone, the other person has also made that time a priority too. They have put their lives on hold for the moment to be with you (for what ever reason, Dr., hair appointment, dinner, REPAIR GUY) They have said to you, they will hold this spot of their day open to see you and will be there waiting . . . and waiting and waiting. THEY also have a life filled with things to do, other than wait for you if you are late!

This brings me to my rant of the day.

As you probably know, we have had tile guys coming out to redo our shower. Well . . . the shower hasn't come along quite as planned. It looks good now but getting it there has been quite a chore in patience.

The supervisor (who will remain nameless) wasn't an "on the job" type of supervisor. His crew came in and did the work, which is fine. But when we called him toward the end of the job because we had some concerns about the one wall, he said he would come over on the way home and have a look. But he never showed AND never called.

He shows up toward the end of the next day (when his crew was almost completely done) and looks at the work. He is not satisfied either and gives us some alternatives. He says he will be here the next day in the afternoon to take care of it.

He doesn't show OR doesn't call! I begin to think that we DIDN'T have an appointment after all ! I second guess myself and think that Maybe I got the days wrong. So he is called. "Oh yeah, I was suppose to come but I got busy" GRRRRR!

So we made and appointment for the next day between 1and 2.

We went about our days chores. Early in the morning, taking my mom to the doctor to have her ankle looked at (doing good). Rushing home to get our stuff together to go over to finish painting my new nephew's nursery and put up a chair rail. RUSH, RUSH RUSH, so we can get home for the 1-2 p.m. appointment. (We had dinner plans with the in-laws for our annual birthday dinner at 4:30 and I get to hang with my nieces)

Tile supervisor guy calls at 2 and says he is 1 hours away and will be here. This would make him here at 3:30 pm. Still thinking that we may make it for our 4:30 dinner appointment with family. HE DOESN'T SHOW UP TIL 4:30.

Dinner was called off. I was very bummed. It was the one fun thing I had to look forward to in a long week of remodeling and nursing my Mom. My mother-in-law was going to come back to stay for the night and she went home instead. We could have stayed and finished my nephews room if we had known that we really didn't have to be back at 1-2 pm. (inconveniencing my nephews family yet again).

So you see ' When you are late you not only mess up one person, you may be messing up several people.

Moral to the long winded story: DON'T BE LATE!

You know me. I ALWAYS try to be on time, if not early.

As my High School band teacher said:

To be early is to be on-time.
To be on-time is to be late.
To be late is to be replaced.
