Only One Word ... Weird!

That word keeps popping up when I discuss the owner of the shop I am in now... WEIRD! Yes in capital letters WEIRD!

I went into work on Monday and all my shampoo "stuff" at the back bar was GONE. (So was the other lady who also rents her station.) The back bar was cleared off EXCEPT for his shampoos and things.
So as expected I asked "Where did my "stuff" go?", as my customer was climbing into the shampoo chair.
He said" I put it on your shelf in the back room."
I thought this a bit strange (but he is) and asked " For any particular reason?"

He replied" Well yeah I'll talk to you about it later!" I thought , Oh here we go again. So I just grabbed my shampoo and lugged it all (four liter size bottles and a conditioner) back out to the backbar (where shampoo is suppose to go) and started my work day.

I wasn't real busy and between customers I read a book, waiting for him to "Talk to me about it later!"

There was plenty of opportunity that day to "discuss" the issue as he was not that busy either but he never broached the subject. Which is his mode of operadi. Change policy and not tell anyone that it has changed or why. So I went home ... I left my bottles on the backbar as I usually do.

Cut to Tuesday.

I get to work and my shampoo bottles have been moved and are again in the back room on my shelf. His are STILL sitting on the backbar. He doesn't get in to work till about 10:30 so I have a few hours to think about what I am going to say. Because today "WE ARE GOING TO DISCUSS IT" and of course I was going to have to bring it up, cause he wouldn't.

He gets in and I get my last lady under the dryer, I say to him, " So what's up with the backbar?"

"I decided that since I have to wipe down the backbar every night that it would be better if the area was cleared off when you leave for the evening!" he said.

First off... he DOESN"T wipe down the area around my sink OR clean the sink I use. I do! If he does clean the area around HIS sink it surely isn't each evening. More like once a week to ten days.

I told him "I will make sure I clean the area each night and then I can leave my shampoo put!" And he said, "No it will stay in the back. It looks better to have it all cleared off." (Reminder: His stuff stays on the backbar at all times) I told him that made no sense, since a backbar is suppose to have shampoo etc on it. That is its purpose.

"But the other girls don't have their shampoo on the back bar!" he quipped.

"The other girl (singular) works on commission and she uses YOUR shampoo, so Yes she does have her shampool on the backbar!" I said with a slighly elavated blood pressure. "When were you going to inform us of this policy change?"

" I guess I am informing you now" was his comeback.

"The only reason we are having this discussion is because I brought it up. You had all day yesterday and for what ever reason didn't come to me to inform me of this change. That is the problem here. As the owner, you have the right to make changes but when you do you have to let US know about it. Like the change in the walkin policy (he says we should have to pay him commission on walkins) and the fact that we are no longer getting a week's free rent, or the fact that you hired a new girl to work here."

"You think I should have informed you about the new girl?" he asked.

"Well yeah! That is common courtesy. You didn't have to ask us if you could hire her but you should have said, Hey we are getting a new girl on Saturday, so if anyone calls for her you will know. DUH!

Anyway! We went round and round about him constantly "changing the rules" him going back on his word and I just got more frustrated and more frustrated. I would ask him a question to help clarify something, he would skirt the question. I finally started saying, "You didn't answer my question!". He would start to go off on another tangent and I would say, "You haven't answered my question. Are you going to answer my question?"

After about 10 mins of this I finallly said, "You know what, I am done talking to you. This is a total waste of time because you are not answering. I am done. "
And I walked away. Grabbed my shampoo off the backbar and threw it on my shelf in the back. (Keep in mind that the bottles are to big to stand up and I had to lay them on their side, this will be understood in a minute) He followed me then and said, " I think once you get use to the idea of the back bar being cleared off you will like it"

Does this guy not have a clue?

I told him "NO I won't". I reminded him that I was done talking to him and walked away to finish my customer. I had to go into the back room to get a new can of hairspray and notice that one of my shampoo bottles (they were laying on their side) was dripping shampoo onto the floor because the pump nozzle was facing down.....Yeah I turned them all facing down. :) The puddle of shampoo was forming. Heck I don't go back to work for two days. :)

I left when my customer left. Without saying goodbye ... see you tomorrow ... kiss my ass ... or leaving my rent check.

So I know I am DEFINATELY leaving. I just don't know where yet.

Probably over to the salon we looked at the other day.
