Oh my aching head!

Getting a late start. I woke with a terrible headache, so I took two Excedrin Migranes's to try and keep it from getting to the "BIG ONE". Five hours later I am feelling better so we are getting ready to go. Hope the altitude change doesn't kick it into high gear again.

Have a great weekend.

Have you ever seen one of these?

Everyone has seen one of these.

boat.jpg

Those cool boats that are stuck inside a bottle. I always wondered how the hell they got in there. I guess they use long tweezers and glue and stuff.

But have you ever seen one of these?

Memorial Day Weekend

Normally we don't go away on holiday weekends. For several reasons.

The traffic sucks.
All the amatuer drunks are out on the roads, at the lakes and up in the mountains.
And everything is SOOO crowded.

But we are making an exception this weekend.

You know the day ...

is going to be alittle wrong, when:

you get a hardboiled egg out of the refrigerator to have for breakfast. Crack the shell to peel it and egg runs out. NOT at all hard boiled but raw.

Good thing I didn't wait to do this in the car at the first stop light I got stuck at like I normally do.

I finally like my work again.

I have been doing the "hair thang" now for 22 years. For the past 6 or so I have not been real happy with where I have been working or WHO I have been working with. Mostly the Owners of the salon have been idiots. I have actually hated going to work. And I love what I do. I love my clients but I hated the atmosphere.

Last November, C and I again changed salons. I now work with the Owner, T ... the manicurist, L ... and C, a hairstylist that I have worked with for 12 years (we stick together). LOVE HER!

I am back into a happy family. We kid each other and help each other when we are busy. Today we are going to lunch. When you have to spend that much time with people it is great to really like them.

I really like these people. So lunch at Claim Jumpers here I come.

I can't seem to get the pretty colored scroll bar thingy to work, again..

I have copied code that I know works, put it into a regular html file and opened it and have a awesome colored scroll bar. I then copy the "exact same code" and put it into my blog file upload it and ... no pretty colored scroll bar.

DAMN! I don't get it.

Does it have to do something with the .php? No, cause I have tried putting a .php extension and it works. Am I trying to put it in the wrong place in the head of my index.php? Maybe, but I have tried moving it around to different spots. NOTHING! Maybe something to do with the skinning I had done recently? I have no clue. Again, I am frustrated.

Any ideas?

UPDATE!

You are AWESOME! Thanks sphinx. I NEVER would have thought of that one. :)
Now I have pretty colored scrollbars. I am now happy.

Summertime!

I know for alot of you Peoples, it is still Spring weather or even Winter for some of you. But here in AZ the temp is a balmy 92°. So since HERE it is the beginning of Summer I have put up a Summertime skin for your enjoyment.

skin3.jpg

I love this skin thing. Even tho, I am not getting much else done around here.

Thank you Joelle, for getting me set up.

ps let me know if you see anything broken. That is all.

One more thing off the list!

I should of just stayed home from work today. I had one person cancel early and then one person, who was getting a color, just didn't even show. (she's a friend also) I tried calling her and can't get anyone at home. Makes me wonder if everything is okay.

*note to self, SELF... call again later this evening to make sure everything is okay*

Once I got home things became abit more productive.

I now have my Photoblog up and running in its new spot on my server.

Next on the list is to get a new design I am working on up and skinned on my main blog. Since I am so proficient *NOT* at php this should be a snap. Probably take me a couple of weeks. :-\

You Got Spam

Cox Internet has come up with some pretty cool features.

They now have a Virus Protection. That is suppose to catch that "EVIL" virus infected email and delete it. Then send you notification that it has done so. Pretty cool, but I run Norton SystemWorks and I very rarely get a virus. And when I do Norton does a wonderful job of detecting it and taking care of the problem.

Then they have a SPAM blocker. You have an option to have your SPAM sent to a "Special SPAM folder" so you can check to make sure it isn't catching stuff that isn't SPAM. Or you can have them just remove it, so you don't even get it into your Inbox and there by don't have to deal with it at all.

Cool, right! I signed up for the "Send it to the Special SPAM folder" option and found that it wasn't sending any of my "REAL" email to SPAM so I changed my preference to the "Just delete the SHIT" option. NO MORE SPAM!! Woo hoo! This really works. Yippee!

But wait....

You won't believe this one, folks. I can't stop laughing at this one. I am having a hard time typing, I am laughing so hard.

A German couple who went to a fertility clinic after eight years of marriage have found out why they are still childless - they weren't having sex.

Here's the whole story.

Much Better Now!

I think I have it. At least so far.

I moved my mt install to a subdomain of my main account. (Thanks Joelle for that info) I had to re-code the wonderful job that Joelle did to reflect the new path.

So now if you see anything funny let me know.

I am now going to delete the old file at the old path. This thing may blow up now. Hold on to your seats.

I am soo bummed.

I have been wanting to get my blog skinned for quite awhile.
I love to mess around with the design of my blog but couldn't figure out how to get it to work for skinning. Even after reading some tutorials on it. So I decided to pay the $ to have it done correctly.

I contacted Joelle at BlogMoxie about a month ago to have her recode my current blog design and make the site skinnable. At the time she was very busy on a big commercial client, so I knew it was going to take awhile. The anticipation mounted.

Well I got an email earlier this week that she was going to get to it this week.

She got back to me yesterday.

or I should say singing.

I took a video with my digital camera of Kermit singing along with Hubby. Everytime Hubby starts playing his guitar, Kerm comes running from where ever he is to do the sing-a-long. This is an everyday occurence around here. Sometimes louder than others.

Not sure if this will work but right click the link and save. If it doesn't work please let me know in the comments. This is an experiment. :)

But boy does he love to sing.

Hubby and I just got back from dinner at Carraba's. Yummy! Not to good for the diet but the best Pasta Weesie (Shrimp sautéed in a garlic, lemon butter, white wine sauce with sautéed mushrooms and scallions, served over fettuccine alfredo) around.

We met Josh and Niki for a Happy Birthday dinner. Tomorrow is Niki's birthday. Let's just say she is now "establishment". So go on over there and wish her a happy birthday and tell her tj sent you.

Next time you are at Costco...

DO NOT buy these things thinking that they would be good to have in the freezer for when people stop by. Because they are so easy to quickly thaw and eat.

puffs.jpg

These are evil little beings that you can hear from everywhere in the house... calling you from the freezer..."Come free me from the freezer! Eat me! Eat Me! EAT ME! Don't be mistaken that you can eat only one. They are like Lays potato chips.

Damn most of the time they don't even get fully thawed and they are gone.

BEWARE!

Damn that Boy can sing!

My Mother-in-law and I went to see Josh Groban in concert last night.

My Mother-in-law won tickets on one of the local radio staions here the end of last year. The original concert was Feb 4th but was cancelled due to Josh being sick. It was rescheduled for last night.

Fourth row - center....

All I can say is WOW!.

josh_groban.jpg

For those of you who might not know who Josh Groban is check out his site. At the top of the page there is a mini player so you can listen to some of his music. This kid is only 22 and is a very gifted baritone with a boy-next-door appeal.

His band of musicians was a mix of orchestra and rock band. They were also amazing.

I would have to say that my favorite song so far is "To Where You Are" check out the video.

I am happy!

An Observation

Have you ever notice that NO ONE admits to buying the "National Enquirer" or "The Star" or any of the other rag magazines.

But let me tell you, that is the first thing they pick up to read at the salon. I am guilty too. I love to read about others. Makes my life seem rather "normal".

Wait... my life is rather normal. Oh well, now I don't know WHY I love the rag mags.

How bout you? Love them or hate them?

My Crusade

Have you ever gone to someones blog and checked out the comments. You read one that you think to yourself, "Self, I would like to have a look at their blog" But when you go to click on their name, their blog opens up in the comment window.??? You can't read the blog and there is no way to resize the window. MT boo boo.

This is my Crusade.

If your blog does this, below is a simple fix so that the link will open up into a new window so people can check out the commenters blog.

MT Fix:

Two choices here.

If you have only one Blog choice one is the easiest to do.

Choice one:

Got to Weblog Config.
Click on Preferences.
About half way down the page under: Specifies the list of HTML tags allowed.....
select: Use my settings: and add this

a href,a href target,b,br/,p,strong,em,ul,li,blockquote

that is the default settings plus the target tag to allow the window to open in a new full sizeable window. Copy and paste and disregard all the spaces.

Click SAVE at the bottom.

Rebuild.

Choice two:

Find your mt.cfg file in your Moveable Type install folder.

A little more than half way down the page under GlobalSanitizeSpec
copy this line there

GlobalSanitizeSpec a href,a href target,b,br/,p,strong,em,ul,li,blockquote

make sure that the # sign is removed before Global.

Save and upload to the server where it belongs.

Your comment links will now open into a new window.

My mission is accomplished only if I visit your site and you have taken care of business.

Thank you for your support. :)

Looks yummy doesn't it?

This is a Caramel Apple Cake from Costco. I had passed it by the last time I was in there but just couldn't resist it this time. It looked so yummy and the caramel made my mouth water.

I got it home without breaking in to it while I was driving (only cause I thought it would be REAL messy with the caramel and all). I got my big glass of milk. I cut myself a chunk and sat down to savor the wonderful caramel apple flavor.

The first bite goes in ...

Sara

Sara (see last post) is doing much better. Her blood count is now up to 23 and Mom said she even barked at another dog when she went in to be checked this morning.

Thanks for all the doggy prayers. Mom really appreciated it.

My Spleen is Killing me!

Got a teary call from my Mom this morning. She had taken her dog, Sara,

into the vet to have her teeth cleaned. About an hour later the vet called and said Sara's blood work came back and it was NOT GOOD. "Insert medical word here" was suppose to be about 40 and hers was only 19.

The vet ultrasound man happened to be in the office and they did an ultrasound on her and it showed that her spleen had ruptured. She went in to have an emergency spleen-ectomy (if that is even what it is called)

Sara is now home but still very serious. She is very anemic and very listless. She is not out of the woods yet.

This is my Mom's baby. Say a little doggy prayer for Sara, please.

UPDATE! Test came back and Sara has cancer! :(

How the Hell did I do that?

Oh my aching back.

Sometime yesterday, I did something to aggrevate my lower back. Don't know what but it now hurts like hell.

It happens about every 6 months and stems from an old football injury. *smiles*

The thought of going to work and standing all day is most unappealing. Damn and it is a busy Monday also.

Where is the asprin?
