A-Maize-ing

Do you like to get lost?

Me either, but this was just a bit different.

We took my niece's to the "Corn Field Maize" yesterday. It brought back memories of "The Shining". We were never "really" lost because we let the girls led us thru. (they are 8 and 5)

The best part of the day was finding $20 on the ground. And of course, M (the 5 year old) found 6 cents. We can't foget that now can we.

They have a "SCARY MAIZE" too, but we decided that Hubby couldn't handle it, without taking out a few of the ghosts and goblins that run thru it. So we chose the "Family Maize" and just ran around scaring each other.

With the $20, we took the girls to Olive Garden. We generally like the italian food there. I ordered a combo meal of Lasagna, chicken parmesan and fettuccini alfredo. Half hour after we ordered the waiter came back.

"We are out of Lasagna!"

WHAT! You are a frickin italian restaurant. How the hell can you be out of lasagna?

WHY ME! Why couldn't you be out of macaroni and cheese. The girls wouldn't have minded, they were already full of breadsticks.

So I had my combo dinner WITHOUT lasagna. I was not a happy camper.

My Birthday?

Today is my birthday?

Well, not really! But that is what my friend told the waitress at Outback Steakhouse. So we would get a free hot fudge sundae. Imagine my surprise when the whole serving staff started singing me "Happy Birthday".

The sundae was yummy by the way.

The Ball Tree Has Died!

I have to inform you that the "Ball Tree" has died.

What? You might ask is a "Ball Tree"?

To my dog, Kermit, it is a wonderful tree that grows these amazing "SOUR" yellow balls. They are right there for the picking. Hundreds of them. Every year it would bring more yellow balls, to pluck off at his every whim. He would toss them and chew them and then DROOL and slobber as the sour taste tantalized his taste buds.

To us mere mortals, it is a dwarf lemon tree. Now it is dead! After many years of being butchered by an overzealous pruner, aka Hubby, it has finally bit the big one.

Kermit is devastated. See for yourself.

I thought it was too funny to NOT pass on. The full article is in the extended.

Make sure you read to the final paragraph. That is the best.

Mickey Needs Me!

I think it was about 4 months ago, that someone turned me on to
The Happiest Faces on Earth, and the fact that Disneyland was going to be 50 Years old in 2005. Disney was looking for pictures that have been taken at Disneyland thru the years.

Well, I had just gone thru the case of "old" slides. (for the younguns, those are like negatives encased so that they can be shown on a slide projector) and there were pictures from Disneyland in the early 1960. So I sent in 5 pictures.

Cut to yesterday.

I received an email from the Disney Corp. and they would like to use 3 of my pictures. Dang, was I surprised. I have to get permission to use the picture from all who are in them. Pretty easy since they are my brother, mom, my "little gram and me. My dad always took the "slides". Mom has already said "Yes, we will be famous!" in our own minds anyway. Bro is out of town but I am sure he will be "okay" with it. And "Little Gram" I am sure is jumping up and down in heaven, saying "sure - Yah - you betcha".

The pictures that are going to make us famous are in the extended:

It's Almost Over!

October is on its way out. And in 6 days the world will be filled with little ghost and goblins, and probably some George W's and maybe even some Kerry's. We will have the usual clowns and gypsies and grim reapers. Candy will be thrown into bags and checked by parents for bad things. (do they still do that?)

I love this time of year. Here in Arizona it is the sign of cooler weather to come. You can always count on Halloween night to be cool and crisp.

But with the coming of Halloween it means one other thing...

Where Am I?

For some reason I found this kind of funny.

Kerry Stops in Texas Without Knowing It

I thought that the waitress and the cop might be pulling the Kerry groups leg. So I did some research of my own.

Red Rooster Cafe

Looks like THEY know where they are. :)

Pomegranates

This is a very strange fruit. Kind of look like an apple with a very hard skin. Kind of like eating a fruit full of juicy sunflower seeds that you spit out the shell. The taste is sweet with a little bitter thrown in for good measure.

pom.gif

They are quite messy and time consuming to eat. But fun. If you have never had one, try one, at least once. I kind of like them.

Who Asked You To Sing?

Does anyone else get pissed off when the person who sings the National Anthem before a sporting event, doesn’t know the words?

I have been known to sing the wrong word to a song myself, on occasion but DAMN! , it's the NATIONAL ANTHEM! If you don't know the words to the National Anthem, then you sure as hell shouldn't be singing it before the frickin "World Series". And in my humble opinion, it is not a song that is up for personal interpretation, either. Sing it the way it is suppose to be sung. It is NOT a rock song, Steven Tyler. Show some respect!

Okay, Let's Play Ball!

Is anyone else finding that the MT Blacklist Master list has not been updated since October 9th? I am really good about keeping my MT Blacklist updated and forwarding the spam email that I do get, back to MT Blacklist. But I am panicing. Are we going to be on our own here?

NOOOOOO!

Where Are You From?

For those of you who are getting here from Blog Explosion.....

Spend your 30 seconds pinning your place on my guest map

I would like to see where everyone is from and come visit your site when I get a chance.

Those of you who come here often, be sure to get your pin on the map too.

Thank you very much for the idea St's Family!

I Want to Play...I Want to Play!

Over at Tenth-Muse, Joelle played the "Last Ten Songs on Your Playlist" game. You set your media player to random and tell what the first 10 songs are that play. No picking and chosing. You have to list the first ten songs, no matter HOW EMBARRASSING they are. Boy did I get screwed this time.

  1. Puff Daddy feat. Jimmy Paige - Come With Me
  2. Carpenters - The Uninvited Grust
  3. Josh Groban - Cinema Paradiso
  4. Nat King and Natalie Cole - Unforgettable
  5. Air Supply - It's Never to Late
  6. Pat Benatar - Hit Me With Your Best Shot
  7. The Monkees - The Day We Fall in Love
  8. Chicago - 25 or 6 to 4
  9. The Monkees - Take a Gian Step
  10. Wallflowers - I Wish I Felt Nothing

That is all. Now Hubby wants to play. But the Monkees music inspired him to go watch some old Monkees shows. Scary!

Dr? Yeah Right!

I went to the Dr. today to see if he could look into why I am having so many headaches.

I left the office with an even bigger headache.

Let me explain.

Senses

I hear:

Kermit (the dog) whining to come in after begging to go out for the last 15 mins.
The Boston/Yankee baseball game getting underway on the T.V. in the other room.
The wind chime next door tinkling in the wind.

I feel:

The gentle breeze blowing in from outside thru the screen door.
The need for something sweet to eat.
Hiccups.

I smell:

The possibility of rain in the air. (kind of smells like wet dirt here in AZ)
Someone in the neighborhood BBQing, chicken, I think.

I taste:

The mexican food we had for dinner.
The water I am drinking to help settle the mexican food we had for dinner.
I hope to be tasting something sweet that I feel I need.

I see:

The baseball game on the T.V. in the other room.
My very messy desk.
A wedding invitation from a good friend from high school.

Aren't the 5 senses amazing?

What are you hearing, feeling, smelling, tasting and seeing?

BUSH WINS!

Another One?

I spent the day again, yesterday in bed with a migraine. Second one in a matter of weeks. Usually I only get 2 or 3 a year. But I think this is about the 6th this year. I guess it is time to go have them checked out with the Doctor. Yuck!

Missed the Axe

The week is over and Hubby, Josh and Niki are still working. They have only laid off 4 from their office, two being managers.

To add to the good news, Hubby was asked to change schedules. TO DAYS woo hoo! After 9 months of this crappy evening schedule he gets to go back to days. AND he will be working 4 - 10 hour days. (he loves that shift)

So all is well for now. The layoffs won't be complete until March 2005, so we get to fret for 5 more month.

Good Friends - Good Food

Hubby and I went over to our friends, D and G to work on their computer. Their hard drive took a shit. (not literally silly, it just stopped working) And I didn't really work on it I was just there for moral support and to visit.

ANYWAY!

After the hard drive was replaced and the computer was up and running, they took us out to dinner at the "Texas Roadhouse" (beware the link has Willie Nelson on the splash page and he DOESN'T shut up)

All I can say.....

Bloggin Around

I spent the morning just bloggin around. Surfin thru my BlogRolling list and then linking from those sites. I was kind of surprised that some of the sites I ended up at had "little ole ME" on their blogroll.

So here's the deal. If you have me on your blogroll and you DON'T see your name on MY Blogroll list. LET ME KNOW! drop me a comment. If you like me, then it is only fair that I link you.

My Media Player is Possessed

The spirits seem to be running my Media Player.

I like to listen to music while I work. I set it on shuffle so the songs just pop up as they pop up. Well first 4 songs that played were:

Please right click and save to your computer if you want to listen

1. "Dance With My Father Again" by Tamyra Gray
This was my dad's choice. I cry everytime I hear it. It brings back memories of dancing with my dad as a child. I would stand on the top of his feet and he would whirl me around the room like a couple of ballroom dancers.

2. "Old Man River" by Barbershop Quartet - Counterpoint
This was Grandma's choice. No crying here just memories of the love we shared. She was a very special woman.

3. "Glycerine" by Bush
This was requested by Ed. Hubby's best friend who was killed by a drunk driver as he walked across the street. See Ed loved this song and Hubby hated it. So it would be just like Ed to make Hubby listen to it.

4. "To Where You Are" by Josh Groban
This was played by all who have passed to make me realize that I miss them all very very much. Some have been gone for as long as 24 years, some only a few months. But I miss them all the same.

Thanks gang!

Lay Off Me!

Pay attention! I didn't say "LAY ME OFF"!

Hubby works for a global networking company that is about to lay off somewhere around 600 employees. These employees will be coming mostly from the department that he works in.

OH JOY!

This isn't the first time we have had to take the "Let's wait and see what happens" stance and it probably won't be the last. But I can tell you that it is really getting old. But he has a job (for now) and the pay is great (for now) and he has a positive mental outlook on the whole thing. So I guess I will:

"Wait and see what happens" But I don't have to like it!

Keep your fingers crossed that Hubby and Josh and maybe even Niki all keep their jobs.

Christopher Reeves passed away today after having lapsed into a coma on Saturday.

Christopher fought a long tough battle since his horseback riding accident 9 years ago. He lived 9 years longer than he was ever expected to live.

God bless Christopher and his family.

Pictures #2

Back on Sept. 30th, I had asked for you to suggest 3 photos for me to take.

The first installment of those pictures you asked for are here.

There were a few pictures that I had a hard time getting, (Beeker and Kerm in their classic battle pose) because said Beeker was under the weather from his little excursion into the wild.

But I have the final pictures that were requested in the extended entry.

Bear the Weight

After the Missing Cat thing, I decided to get the animals new id tags for their collars.

Hubby bought one for Beeker, that the lettering was so small you couldn't read the phone number. So I went down to our local PetsMart to get another one. I was going for the small heart shape like the old tag he had but pushed the wrong button and instead got the LARGE heart shape.

Well, you would think the poor cat had an anvil hanging around his neck. He was laying on the floor like he couldn't pick his head up. Hubby says he will probably drowned in the water bowl cause he can't hold his head up. I think he will get use to it eventually, but if not I guess I have another trip to PetsMart for a small heart shaped tag.

Birthday Parties and BBQ's

You've heard the song Manic Monday by the Bengals. Oh come on sure you have. (if I had it in "MY LIST" I would make a link for download but it seems I don't have it)

Anyway, I digress.

This should be called Manic Sunday. Usually Sunday at my house is a day to sleep in, go to breakfast at the nearest IHOP, and do absolutely nothing of value.

But not today. Everyone has planned the day for us. We have a 1st birthday party for my nephew Charlie Damn, that year went fast.

Then we have a BBQ with my daughter-in-laws family, to meet her parents. You might ask, "If she is your daughter-in-law, then why didn't you meet her parents at the wedding?" Simple....

Did You Hear That?

Money Laundering

I hit the jackpot!

This morning as I was moving the load of clothes from the washer to the dryer it started raining money. Okay, not exactly raining but it was spewing from my washer. Five and ten and ones and change and EVERYTHING. For a grand total of $20.09. That's right baaaaby! I am one rich cleaning lady. You betcha!

You see the deal at this house is ... if you don't clean out your pockets I GET IT! Woo Hoo! I feel a Starbuck's coming on.

God I love to do laundry. Yeah right!

UPDATE!

Just moved the clothes OUT of the dryer and out pops another $5.25.

The only problem is ... I have come to the conclusion that it came out of the pocket of a pair of MY jeans. So I am not as excited anymore. :(

We Have a Guest

A friend of Hubby's, I'll call him P, called earlier this evening. He was moving into a friends house this week and had headed over there this evening to bring some more "stuff" to the house. When he gets there he is greeted with changed locks and an eviction notice on the door.

Hubby, of course, doesn't ask the right questions so it is still up in the air whether P's "friend", was renting the house or just didn't pay his mortgage. I guess it doesn't matter, but what DOES matter is that P is a diabetic. And ALL his meds are in the house under someone else's lock and key. I told Hubby to have P call the police and tell them that if he didn't get into get his meds there WOULD be a medical emergency.

P just called back and the cops helped him "break into" the house to retreive his meds, a few clothes and a couple of his guitars, since he is a musician and that is part of his business. They told him that he would have to contact the courts tomorrow to get the rest of his stuff legally.

So now P has no place to stay. So we have opened up our humble home for the next couple days, I guess. P is a nice guy so I guess it will be okay.

I guess I have to stay dressed for the next couple days. No running around in my undies. DAMN!

I decided that there were alot of Halloween skins going around, so I didn't want to be left out. So here you go. If you don't see any Trick-R-Treaters on this page then look to the left and change the skin to Halloween.

There ya go. More cute than scary but I like it.

Deb over at Ponderings of a Princess gets brownie points for being the first to visit the new Halloween Skin. She commented on the last post as I was getting it set up. She's quick!

I Think I'm Alive?

My eyes are open. The light doesn't seem to be bothering them. I can sit up and stand up without getting a horrific pounding behind my right eye.

I guess I lived.

Although, yesterday it was touch and go. I woke with one of the worst migraines I have ever had. This one lasted from sometime early morning, (I think I took the first pill about 4am) when Hubby got up to get me some meds, till I finally woke up for real at 4pm.

Someone could have just shot me and I would have been better off.

But this morning I am raring to go. Go figure.

Painting Queen

My new title is Painting Queen.

We went over to my Sis-in-laws this morning to finish up her livingroom and kitchen painting. I now know that I do not want vaulted ceilings in any house I own. These two rooms are of course the highest peak in the house, easily 16 feet high. Painting ceases to be fun when you are that high on a ladder. (I made SIL do it, she needed the experience.) To add insult to injury, we had to prime the one wall first, cause she picked a deep burnt red color as an accent wall. So it meant double painting. Yikes. But it does look awesome just in time for little Charlie's 1st birthday next weekend.

I also gave Little Charlie his first haircut while I was there. He looks so grown up with his little boy cut.

Next week, I am going over to my daughter-in-law's to help paint the nursery.

See I told you I am the new "Painting Queen".

That is what I hope to be yelling in about 3 hours.

The girls are going out to Vie Quiva casino to play BINGO tonight. They are paying for my card packet as a belated birthday for me. Woo Hoo! Free BINGO for me. Now if I can only WIN!

I always seem to get down to one number left til I BINGO and someone yells BINGO and it isn't me. But the first number up on the next game is the number I needed. So I am really in for a night of pure frustration rather than fun. But at least I will be with my buds.

Wish me luck!
