I Have Fuzzy Teeth

Not real fuzzy but read on.

About 2:30 a.m. this morning, the city of Phoenix learned that water leaving its Val Vista plant is violating some federal standards. This was caused by the increase of mud, sludge and other particulates in the water run-off from recent storms. .:

The health and safety of our customers is our number one priority. And our water engineers have assured us that the risk of contamination is low. But in order to be extra cautious, we are asking Phoenix residents to boil their water or use bottled water until noon Wednesday, Jan. 26. .:

This includes any water used for drinking, brushing teeth, food preparation, making ice cubes, and washing dishes. Residents can feel comfortable in showering in the water.

We also are asking residents to conserve water by taking short showers and not watering their lawns as the city continues to refill its reservoirs with clean water.

This morning, I found this out AFTER I got to work. This of course was AFTER I had my coffee (from tap water), took a shower and brushed my teeth, filled up the animals water jug (from the tap) and ate an apple that I washed from the faucet.

We do have two 5 gallons jugs of bottled water that I have used the rest of the day. It's funny how much you take having water running out of the faucet, for granted.

Actually, I think you guys are running on the northern water plant, so you might not have anything to worry about. I don't think you're on the Val Vista plant.. that's for central/south/west Phx. The northern plant doesn't get it's water from SRP/Salt River. Nor does Peoria run off of SRP, ours uses groundwater.

But, since the media is nothing but a bunch of sensationalizing idjits, the likeliehood of you finding that out from typical sources was probably quite low. J & I heard it on KTAR, via a press conference w/the Phx mayor. Particularly the bit about North Phx being on a different system than the Val Vista plant. You could probably call the water company to verify which plant you're on.. assuming hold times aren't outrageous.

Basically it is the same as everything else.

According to the water people, the 'stuff' in the water is up from 1 part per BILLION to 2.4 parts per BILLION.

The only people at risk are the very old, very young, or very sick.

This is just a warning so they can cover their asses if someone does get sick.

Oh yeah amazing what we take for granted. I bet you were just horrified when you heard the news.

Hi!
The tap wather is surely a friend! Everything gets troublesome when we have to not use it, hope it soon will pass for this time. And yes, even though you sort of feel the "dirt" in the wather the chances of getting ill are slim!

ugh.. we have had to boil water after flooding. it is not fun...sympathies my friend!

Gross, did you go around spitting after that?
