Waking Up

Ahh!

There is nothing like waking up on a lazy morning. Big lazy dog laying next to you on Hubby's pillow. We are nose to nose.

Then the Big Burp. The stub of a tail wiggles.

It was almost like Hubby but different.

Water Water Everywhere

except coming out of the faucet.

Got to work on Monday to find there is no water. None! Nada! Ziltch!

We had been having trouble with the hot water heater for the past few weeks. We would be in the middle of rinsing a perm or color and BAM no hot water. WAKE UP CUSTOMER!

So this wasn't a "NEW SURPRISE" thing. Only to me when I have my first client in the shampoo chair and there is "NOTHING". I am the only one who works on Monday and I usually go in at noon. Had a lunch date so it is now 2:30pm. NO WATER. Booked solid afternoon. See my problem.

After some investigating, it seems they are changing out the old water heater for a new one. They started at NOON. WHAT THE F*CK? Hey people I work today.

I called the boss and she says that her dad was suppose to to it on Sunday. She will be right down with some bottled water. You want me to rinse a perm with bottled water. Yeah like that is going to happen.

I'll cut to the chase. Water heater is done. No hot water. Tap tap tap coming from the area of the water heater. Tap tap tap alittle louder and harder. Bang bang bang "OH SHIT" ... water is off.

"Dad" comes in to salon. "I have to turn the water off to replace a valve that isn't working." Could it be he tapped tapped tapped alittle to long and hard.

Finished the day with NO HOT WATER. Didn't even shampoo my haircuts. Just squirted them down with a water bottle. Oh so professional. Perm and color were rinsed with cold water with just enough time before the water was turned off.

I should have known the day was going to get worse when at lunch I dropped a big blog of BBQ pork on my shirt.

Think there will be hot water when I go into work this morning? We'll see.

Green Green ...

Here in Phoenix the "normal" average rainfall is right around 8 inches a year. I know that is less than some of you get in a month but HEY! we are a desert here.

I think I heard last night that we have had over 4 inches so far this year, and we are only at the end of the second month. Usually we get alittle over an inch and a half for the two months combined. But enough of the weather lesson.

All this rain is making us have the color "GREEN" in our landscape. The hills and fields are all growing crazy. You see here in Arizona we don't have the color GREEN like the rest of the country. We have a dirty "brown green". Kind of a "crispy green" ready to turn brown with a couple of 100 degree days. But NOW we have GREEN. My yard is GREEN, it is mostly weeds but it is GREEN.

Why even my patio is GREEN! That's alittle scary and I am not sure what I am going to do about it but there it is.

How Many of You?

If you had the chance to retire and not ever work again. . . would you? Of course this fantasy would include all the money you need to do what ever you want.

You bet I would. I love my job but I would love to be able to travel when and where I want.

If you didn't have to work, what would you be doing with all your time?

I am going to bed now to dream about it. Before I have to get up for work in the morning.

Childhood Memories

During my first grade year, I got in trouble for not bringing a library book back to school on time. It wasn't because I forgot it a home or lost it. It was because I loved the book so much I didn't want to give it back. Who didn't love George?

The "new skin" is in honor of that book.

"Curious George goes to the Circus"

I guess I better go in search of some Curious George books.

If you don't see the new skin . . . reset the skin to default or George over at the "Change the Skin" drop down box.

This is MY Valentine

The past 48 hours have been very exciting around here.

Being a Grandma is the most awesome thing there is.

I also want to thank my son and daughter-in-law for allowing me to experience one of the most amazing things I have ever been a part of. The birth of my granddaughter.

Both Daddy and Mommy were real troopers. DIL gave ME strength just watching her do her job of bringing Kaylin into this world. She is just beautiful. I am soooo proud of ALL of them.

Without further ado. I would like to introduce you to my first granddaughter,

For those who would like a longer look here is a slideshow of
Kaylin Marie! This will take a few mins to download so be very patient. :)

Still Waiting . . .

No baby yet. We are waiting for the hospital to have an opening to induce DIL. No really! We spent all day yesterday calling back every 4 hours or so. Guess this is a busy baby season or something.

Anyway going to try to get back to a routine and go to work this morning. I am slammed with appointments, so you can bet she will go in this morning.

How Many Dates Can One Girl Have?

Let's see!

Friday night: Hubby wants to take me to see this amazing guitarist, Tommy Emmanuel, out in Cave Creek.

Saturday: Mother-in-law won tickets to see "Leslie Gore, The Shirelles and the Dixie Cups. She offered them to her middle son (age 35) and he said, "Who?". So she asked if I would go with her. We get dinner, the concert and alittle gambling too, since it is out at Fort McDowell Indian Casino.

Saturday Date 2: Hubby wanted to take me to a new nightspot here in town for a night of dancing and karaoke. I dance, he karaoke's since I can't carry a tune.

Hopefully "the baby" gets here tomorrow, so my weekend will be open for all this fun stuff.

Why We Watch the Superbowl

I watched bits and pieces of the Superbowl yesterday. But everyone watches the game for the commercials anyway. Of course I missed some of them too.

But thanks to Tom over at St's Family.com we have a link to ALL the commercials in one convienent place.

I would have to say my top 3 favorites are:

  • Bud Light: Parachuting

  • Fed Ex: Dancing Burt

  • Anheuser Busch: Thanking the Troops (made me cry)

Which were yours?

Have a look and then tell me which one is your favorite.

I Won't Bore You

I know that some of you are not the least bit interested in hearing yet another post about the upcoming grandbaby. So I have made a "special "site for the baby news for family and friends who are interested. I have password protected it so if you want to keep up you will have to leave a comment with a valid email address and I will email you the username and password.

This is not saying that there will never again be a post about "The Baby" but I will limit them to very important things, like when she is born.

Carry on.

Where Were You?

I just finished staining a changing table that I got "used" from a friend of a friend.

Put the pieces in the spare room to dry. Looked up and saw TWO MORE peices, laying on the back of the couch. ARRRRGGGGG! Where the hell did they come from? Why did they climb up onto the couch away from thier brother pieces?

So now I have to drag out the sander and the stain and the polyurethane and all the other "stuff".

So much for being organized.

And still no baby.

Hockey is Coming to Town

Minor league hockey is coming back to Phoenix.

From 1997-2001, Phoenix had a minor league hockey team called the Phoenix Mustangs. Before that there was The Roadrunners. Both teams folded after a few seasons trying to compete with the Phoenix Coyotes.

Hubby and I had season tickets to the Mustangs and we sat right on the glass. (the tickets were dirt cheap) So for four years we went to every game and cheer the team. We even had the opportunity to watch them win the WCHL championship in 2000. It was awesome. When they closed up shop at the end of the 2001 season we were really bummed.

The new "news" is that the old Roadrunners name has been bought out by none other than the "Colangelo's". They brought us the Suns, the Diamondbacks and the America West Arena. So we will again have minor league hockey in the valley of the sun.

Season starts in October. No news on ticket prices, but they are claiming to be low enough for families to enjoy.

We have put down deposits for two seat on the glass so we will be one of the first to get to pick out seats. Hubby is so excited he could just spit.

Woo Hoo!

Granddaughter Update

Brea (daughter-in-law) went to the doctor on Monday. After he examined her, he said I have some good news and some bad news. The good news... Brea won't be going into premature labor. The bad news... she may not be going into labor by herself any time soon. Her cervix is not thinning at all. Still thick and holding that baby in good and tight.

So the deal is, she will have an ultra sound on Saturday to see how big the baby is. The doctor doesn't want her to get over 8 pounds. I am sure that Brea doesn't either. (E was 10 pounds 3 ounces) Then next appointment is Monday afternoon (her due date) The doctor will determine when they will induce labor if she has not progressed any. If inducing doesn't work after 2 days, then she will have to have a c-section. We don't want that, thank you.

So keep your fingers and toes crossed that little Kaylin decides to push from the inside. :)
