Hockey is Coming to Town

Minor league hockey is coming back to Phoenix.

From 1997-2001, Phoenix had a minor league hockey team called the Phoenix Mustangs. Before that there was The Roadrunners. Both teams folded after a few seasons trying to compete with the Phoenix Coyotes.

Hubby and I had season tickets to the Mustangs and we sat right on the glass. (the tickets were dirt cheap) So for four years we went to every game and cheer the team. We even had the opportunity to watch them win the WCHL championship in 2000. It was awesome. When they closed up shop at the end of the 2001 season we were really bummed.

The new "news" is that the old Roadrunners name has been bought out by none other than the "Colangelo's". They brought us the Suns, the Diamondbacks and the America West Arena. So we will again have minor league hockey in the valley of the sun.

Season starts in October. No news on ticket prices, but they are claiming to be low enough for families to enjoy.

We have put down deposits for two seat on the glass so we will be one of the first to get to pick out seats. Hubby is so excited he could just spit.

Woo Hoo!

This makes me so happy! I'm dying without the NHL this season, so this is especially good news. Thanks for sharing!! :)

I love Hockey!!! Our team is the Tulsa Oilers!! Love your new valentine look, great pics of you and the hubs too.

I would love that.. I miss the Devils!

3 of our wings are playing for a minor league team around the corner from us, but they have been sold out. We are going to watch an OHL game this weekend and my nephew is going to be playing a mini game between the 1st and 2nd period. It should be fun. Its been a long time since I have seen hockey in person with this lock out and all. I did watch some college hockey last weekend, but its just not the same, but still good.
