Tunnel Love?

I decided that I couldn't bring my brand new spiffy washer and dryer into the old shabby dirty laundry room. So I set aside today to make it a room that they (the washer and dryer) would be proud to live in.

A new coat of paint would be nice. As I was painting the second wall, I notice a crack in the old paint. So I picked it. Well, I shouldn't have done that! You see the reason for that small crack was an old termite tunnel.

Yes, we HAD termites. Most houses in Arizona have to deal with them at one time or another. You see, these termites like to make their tunnels between the paint and the wallboard. Clever little devils that they are. That way the damage isn't as noticable until the house falls down.

We DON'T have termites now. Let me make that perfectly clear. These were old dried up tunnels. But the damage is still the same. But I digress.

So as I am poking at the wall, I am finding more and more tunnels. Of course, this causes more and more holes in the paint. By the time I am done poking,

I now have to have the one wall floated and retextured. And while we are at it we are going to replace the dryer vent.

OH!

Of course, that wall is where the water heater is and YES there is yucky tunnels behind it. So we are going to have to pull the water heater out to do the wall. Why when no one will see it, you ask? Well, if we ever sell this house it would have to be done before we could put it on the market, so we might as well do it now.

I think I should just go buy a new house for my new washer and dryer! What do you think?

Never seems fair, but always seems to happen. You plan a "simple" project and WHAM!!!!!!!

Oh yes you!! Just buy another one, and one for me too!!!

Better to deal with it now instead of fining out when you are trying to sell the house and the home inspection finds it. I'm with you. I think a new washer and dryer need a new house to live it. That was one of the first things we bought for our new house.
