Oops! I Forgot to Tell!

We have been so busy with the tile remodeling job that I forgot to tell you....

We are going to have another "Granddaughter" in January. WOO HOO! I like me these girls. Having raised two boys, I am loving the little outfits and things I get to buy for the little girls.

So color me excited.

Continuing Project

We continue to work.

It is very hard to get a big project like this done when you have to work and live and take care of other business ALSO!

It has been 6 days and the tile is now laid. You didn't hear me say "FINISHED" but just "laid". We still have to grout, put back baseboards, seal and then the final cleaning. Then of course move everything back into the room.

Our kitchen table has become our office. I don't know how many times I have tried to pull out my keyboard drawer from under the table. The rest of my house is cock full of office and misplace items.

I WANT MY HOUSE BACK IN ORDER!

Soon - hopefully we can finish this up this weekend. But now, everything that we have to do it a waiting process. Grout ... wait for 24 hours, seal grout ... wait for 24 hours. You get the picture.

So here are a couple of pictures of what my house looks like now.
You can click on them to get the BIG PICTURE!

My Arms! My Arms!

I can't feel my arms. I guess that is not a correct statement. I CAN feel my arms but I can't MOVE my arms.

We are extending the ceramic tile that we have in the kitchen into our family room/office. We spend so much time in there, that the carpet is gross. No matter how hard I try to keep it clean there is just too much traffic. Hubby, the dog, the cat and I have worn a path. So we are tiling it.

But before we can lay the tile we had to remove the carpet. Then we had to remove the vinyl that the carpet was laid over. Last but the hardest, is removing the black adhesive that was used to stick the vinyl to the concrete. That is a BITCH! Who ever laid the vinyl had a thing for the glue that sticks it down.

I am all but about a 3 by 6 foot square and I just can’t do it anymore. Hubby is burnt after scraping the tile off and removing some of the pieces of tile that made the curve by the carpet. So we will take the rest of the afternoon off and begin again tomorrow.

You might have noticed that this room is ALSO our office. So we have set up our computers on the kitchen table. I would have some pictures for you but I am too tired to find my camera in this mess and snap some. Maybe later.

I am going to go take some Advil, ice my arms and take a nap now.

Jury duty went as expected.

I left the house at 6:50am, an hour and ten minutes early, for the 35 minute drive to the Municipal Court downtown Phoenix. AFTER I got on the freeway I noticed that there was not enough gas in the car to get me there. Of course, I had already passed all my "known" gas stations in my area. So I pulled off the bumper to bumper freeway in search of gas. To make a long story shorter, I whittled away my 30 minute safety zone and made it to the Jury Assembly room with a whole 2 minutes to spare.

There was a white board with a list of all the cases that were to be heard today. There were ten. Woo Hoo! I should be able to get on ONE of them right?

The day went like this:

  • Doughnut and coffee

  • Chit chat with a few other juror prospects

  • Watched the movie "National Treasure"

  • the list was now down to 3

  • Lunch from 11:45 to 1:30 - who the hell needs THAT long for lunch

  • Back to the Jury Room to watch the movie "Radio"

Just as the movie was getting to the "good" part we were told we could go home. That was at 2:45pm.

So AGAIN I never left the Assembly Room to go into the courtroom.

AND now I have to rent the movie "Radio" to see how it ends.

Back to Reality

Leaving 70 degree temperature to come back to 100 plus temperature SUCKS!

The mini-vacation was awesome! Light thunderstorms almost everyday - cool temps - naps each afternoon - the kids and granddaughter to play with... what more could one ask for.

I promised you some humminbird pictures. They didn't turn out quite as good as I had hoped they would but you can get the idea. There were at least 30 different ones flying around at any given time. Kaylin loved watching them. So did Beeker the cat.

By the way... Reality sucks too!

We got hummingbirds coming out our ears! There have got to be 30 hummingbirds flying around the yard and feeders here at the cabin. I have pictures but I didn't bring my USB cable to download the pictures off my camera. So you will just have to wait until Sunday or Monday to see them.

The weather is awesome. We have had thundershowers both afternoons since we got here. This afternoon, it was close. I mean REAL close. We were watching lightening strike out in the back. No damage that we can see though.

The guys will be up tomorrow morning so us girls are going to be drinking coffee with Bailey's tonight. Off to make coffee. :)

Forecast: Rain and Cool

I have about 4 hours of "real" work (the one I get paid for) and about 10 hours of "get ready to go" work to do before we leave town tomorrow.

We are headed to the cool pines.

Daughter-in-law called a couple weeks ago and said she had 5 days off the first part of August and would we like to head over to San Diego. Since it is prime time of year and late planning, we decided that the cabin might be a better choice this time.

So D-I-L, Kaylin (granddaughter) and I are heading up to the cabin on Weds morning and the "Guys" are going to join us on Friday.

The temperature has been upper 70's and low 50's. WOO HOO! I get to bundle up again.
