I hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday.
Love you all!
I hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday.
Love you all!
I may be done with my Xmas shopping. Of course, I won't know until I get to the wrapping and find that I really "didn't" buy that thing I thought I already bought.
I did NOT inherit a "shopping gene" from ANYONE! I hate to shop and God forbid someone wants me to go shopping WITH them. When I go, I have a list - I know where I want to go - what I want to get - and I DON'T want to waste time waiting for someone else to find their stuff. So it is a solo flight for me.
The only GOOD thing about shopping is I treat myself to a Starbuck's Caramel Frappuccino Lite. Totally worth the pain of shopping.
I found out from Niki that my "Winter Skin" was totally dorked up when viewed in Firefox. (all Mozilla based browsers it turned out)
Well with alittle work it seems to be working now. If anyone sees anything "goofy" PLEASE LET ME KNOW!
I know there are lurkers out there who view with Firefox, Safari, AOL and a few "Unknown" browsers. So all you peoples who come here and DON'T comment, now is the time.
What browser do you use most often? Come on! Let me hear from you! Don't make me tell Santa you aren't playing with me.
"We" (aka Hubby, B - daughter in law, E - son and I) went to the other son and daughter-in-laws house to work on the new baby's nursery while J and N were at work. "We" were going to paint, hang wallpaper border, hang curtains, set up the crib etc. All a surprise for the "mom to be". We would have surprised the daddy to be also but we wanted to get into the house without breaking a window.
Things were going along swimmingly until we were just about done painting and the phone rang. Seems the "mom to be" decided it was time to go into labor. She was having pains about 6 - 8 times an hour. They were headed to the hospital.
We went into overdrive and got the border up, the crib built and the curtains hung, just about in time for them to walk in the front door. It was a false alarm.
BUT we walked her down the hall with her eyes closed (no peeking) and she was pleasantly surprised, I do believe.
Now all we need is a baby. Well, and a mattress and dresser and changing table and other little baby misc.
But at least the room is painted and looks like a nursery now instead of a storage shed. :)
I know that some of you who come here to read What's Up With That? don't really "know" me. We have never met but I know that I get a "feel" about people just by reading their thoughts.
I was sent an email today from a friend with this
Describe ME in ONE WORD...just one word!!!!
I thought it might be fun to see how people would describe me from just reading what I have to say.
So go ahead, put it in the comments. Just ONE WORD!
Then post this on your blog and see how many strange things people say about you!
This could be fun! AND INTERESTING!
You can still play even if you really DO know me but be nice.
I took the day off so Hubby and I could do some charity work.
One of Hubby's co-workers asked him if we would like to help raise money for Ronald McDonald House. All we had to do was lay down some cash and shoot at a couple of clay targets at the Ben Avery Clay Target Center. No Problem!
Little did I know that we would be using a 12 gauge shotgun and have to shoot the thing 50 times. AND try to hit these little orange targets that were flying thru the sky every which way.
Now, I must tell you that I come from a "hunting" family. Yes! Deer, elk, javalina, doves, quail and more than a few cans have lost their lives because of my family. Personally, I have only "killed" cans and targets but the MEN in the family have harmed little Bambi's mommy and daddy and some of his extended family.
I use to be a pretty fair shot. I say "use to be" because I haven't had a gun in my hand for ohhhh 10 years or more. Unless you count the paintball gun that I used on my honeymoon 8 years ago --- but that is another post.
So the set up was 5 different stands. At each stand you got 10 shots and 10 clay targets. The first 4 shots were single shots and the last 3 were two targets at a time. You had to be quick.
Hubby made me go first. His mistake. The first stand I got 9 out of 10 shots. Yeah! You heard me right. I only missed one bright orange clay target. Hubby was sweating. He managed to get 8 out of ten.
The exhilaration was short lived though, as he took the lead at the third stand. So for the next two hours we were shooting at these clay targets going from left to right and right to left and from here to there and there to here. And don't forget the double targets that went from here to there AND there to here at the same time.
After all was said and done, I ended up with 32 dead clay targets out of a possible 50 and Hubby had killed 38. Since I was one of 2 women shooting, I think all the "good ole boys" that were running the place, were impressed by my skills.
I also have a tweeked neck and I bet I have a bruise on my shoulder in the morning. But what the heck! It was for a good cause.
Since my house if FULL of sicky germs, I went over to babysit little K at her house today. Her house had been FULL of the sicky germs too, but we are not sure it is the same type of germ and I didn't want her to have to deal with Grandpa's strain.
She is getting to the "fun" stage. She is trying to walk and crawls like a mad woman. But today we spent alot of time cuddling in the recliner, since she isn't feeling completely up to par. I love cuddling.
There is nothing quite like holding a baby and having her look at your face as you look at hers. The little hand reaching up to poke her little fingers into your mouth and up your nose. Nothing quite like it.
You tell me - isn't she the cutest thing you have seen today?

There are sick people all around. I don't mean your everyday psycho's, but "ill" people. The Hubby has been down with some kind of crap since Sat. Hubby's mom was here last night and she is just getting over it. I think she may have been the one to pass it around. My son and granddaughter are both icky. I am surrounded.
So far I have been spared. I have had the scratchy throat thing going for a couple of days but have been chomping on the Vitamin C and so far it hasn't taken hold. Keep your fingers crossed for me.
Hubby was planning on playing hooky from work on Sunday but was really sick. He went in to work on Monday but they SENT him home midday because they didn't want his germs there anymore. Right now he is in bed snoring away. He snores so badly when he is sick that it forced me, the dog AND cat out of the bedroom last night. We spent the night on the couch and believe me that couch isn't THAT big.
So I am off to work with about 5 hours sleep.
Pity the person who sits in my chair today.
