Big Wind and White Trash

Who would have thought that we would have a storm in Phoenix.

Who would have thought that this storm would have strong winds.

Who would have thought that these winds would take the 10 x 10 canopy, that we set up for Mother's Day, and blow it up OVER the roof and into the street in front of our house.

I wouldn't have thought that!

But it did. We had gone out to dinner and as we were driving into the driveway something made me think of that canopy. I mentioned it to Hubby and went out to the backyard to see how torn up it was. Imagine my surprise when it was nowhere to be found. We looked over the ajoining fences into the yards of the neighbors. No canopy. Not even a pole. We went out front and Hubby asked the next door neighbor if he might have seen it. (How the hell could you miss it, it is quite big) He said the "white trash" neighbors grabbed it up out of the middle of the street.

So Hubby heads over to their house and rings the doorbell. They said they had stored it nicely into their garage for safe keeping. Yeah Right!

We couldn't open it up because the wind was still pretty strong and we didn't want to end up like Mary Poppins. We will take a look tomorrow to see how torn up the canvas part is. At least we have it back.

UPDATE! The canopy was just fine except for a little road rash on one corner. So it lived to see another Mother's Day.

Rain Rain DON'T Go Away!

Woo Hoo! IT'S RAINING! Really raining!

For those of you in the snow packed-otherwise soggy areas of the world, this is GOOD news. Here in Phoenix, we have been without any measurable rain for something like 143 days. (Oct 18, 2005 was the last time it rained. You do the math).

But right now, at 7:11am it is raining a nice steady drizzle, and has been for quite awhile. We have PUDDLES, people! Real PUDDLES! The air smells like wet dirt (that is what rain smells like here) and it is kind of cold. (another unusual occurrence here).

I don't want to go to work. Wonder if I can call in and say I can't make it because it is raining. Which might not be to far off because it sometimes floods here when it rains.

WOO HOO! RAIN!

I'm Melting!

Damn it's HOT!

It's 105 with 33 1/3 % humidity. It's not a DRY HEAT anymore!

The last thing I wanted to do today was go to the gym and workout. But I dragged my big ole butt and my hubbys big ole butt and headed to the gym. We walked thru the door and the place felt like a sauna. The air conditioning was broken! So no working out.

Of course, I didn't put on any makeup or do my hair before the "almost" workout. So I was a la natural. We came home and goofed around until I had to head to work for a few hours.

I walk into work and take one look in the mirror and I see that I am STILL a la natural. YIKES! I don't look THAT bad in the light in MY bathroom. Thank god I was the only one there, except of course for my 3 clients. But they didn't care.

The air conditioning was fixed by 3 and we got to workout then. I feel so much better. Or I guess I should say I feel so much more sweaty. YUCK!

I Think It Is Broken

Yep, that's right! I think my antiperspirant is broken. It sure isn't making my underarms all dry and pretty smelling.

The temperature here in sunny AZ was only suppose to be 107 but it sure felt hotter. I checked the weather page and it said

Current temperature: 107
Feels like: 99

Have these people not stepped outside? It feels more like 120 to me. And to think we are only at the beginning of summer.

Gotta love Arizona!
